Jerry "Boot" Allen Nesbitt

Jerry Allen Nesbitt "Boot", 70, of Salisbury, NC, passed away on March 12, 2026, after a short battle with cancer.

Jerry was born in Rowan County on June 10, 1955, to the late Francis Grubb and John E. “Pot” Nesbitt of East Spencer. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Linda Nesbitt Isley Smith (Gene).

Survivors include daughter Jennifer Nesbitt Pack of Albemarle, son Garrett Allen Nesbitt (Suzane) of Marietta, GA, and brother Johnny Nesbitt (Becky) of Robbins, NC. Stepchildren Jason Smith (April) and Lindsay Bost (Aaron) also survive him. He is also survived by grandchildren Noah, Joshua, and Isabella Nesbitt; Levi and Bristol Pack; Haley Wright, and wife of 35 years, Wanda Pierce Nesbitt. 

Jerry began his working career at an early age, delivering newspapers for the Salisbury Post from his bicycle, earning a free trip to the beach with others across the state for top sales. Before graduating from North Rowan High School in 1973, he won first place in a state competition in masonry for his brick-laying skills. He worked second shift at NC Finishing Company during his high school years, and then retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 30+ years of service.

Jerry will be remembered for his loyalty to his family, friends, and his 13-year-old Giant Schnauzer, Champ. He loved trips to the beach, mountains, motorcycles, and NASCAR racing.

Most of all, he will be remembered for how proud he was of his children and grandchildren, and how dedicated he was to them.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday May 1, 2026, at Rowan Memorial Park, 4125 Franklin Comm Center Rd, Salisbury, NC 28144. We welcome all who knew Jerry to join us as we honor and celebrate his life on earth.
