Jewell "Geralene" (Campbell) Newton

Jewell Geralene Campbell Newton passed away on March 27, 2026, at the age of 88.

She was born on July 20, 1937, in Woodleaf to Mary Myrtle Hall Campbell and George Ira Campbell. She was a member of Needmore Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers Robert Shaw and Eugene Campbell; her husband Arnold Joe Newton Sr. (married May 28, 1955); daughters Melba Lorraine Newton and Susan Christine Sexton; and her grandson Dustin Lee Newton.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Arnold Joe Newton Jr. (Tammy) of Woodleaf and Brian Welby Newton (Traci) of Yadkinville; grandchildren Jason Kinley, Jeffrey Smith (Grace), Jessica Walker (Doug), Ryan Newton (Courtney), Hannah Newton, and Abby Gieger (Christopher); great-grandchildren Ashlyn Smith, Gavin Walker, Kasen Walker, Colton Newton, Briggs Newton, CJ Brenamen, Spencer Tulbert, Emeri Henderson, Dustin Smith, Brayleigh Smith, and Maverick Gieger; and great-great-grandchild Scarlett Smith.

A visitation will be held from 2:00-2:45 on Thursday April 2, 2026, at South River Church, 2880 S River Church Rd, Woodleaf, NC 27054. A service will be at 3:00 pm. The burial will follow at the Needmore Baptist Church Cemetery, 1620 Mt Vernon Rd, Woodleaf, NC 27054.

In lieu of flowers, all memorials can be made to the BAYADA Hospice of Salisbury, 468 Jake Alexander Blvd W, Salisbury, NC 28147.
