John Douglas Hoffman, 71, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.
Born on June 11, 1950, he was the son of the late Bernice Julian Hoffman and Dewey Hoffman.
John worked as a teacher, assistant principal, and interim principal for the Rowan Salisbury School System. He was a lifelong member of Bethel Lutheran Church where he was a choir director and was active with North Carolina Association of Educators, North Carolina Retired School Personnel, and the National Association of Educators. He enjoyed fishing, working with his garden and flowers, and traveling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Hoffman.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Vivian Erwin Hoffman, whom he married on June 14, 1981; daughter, Laura Roberts (Jim) of Salisbury; sisters, Judy Hoffman of Salisbury and Martha Hoffman Jones (Freddie) of Salisbury; grandchildren, Sam Roberts, Katie Roberts, Riley Vogel, and Griffin Vogel.
Visitation: 10:00-11:00 AM Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 355 E. Ridge Rd, Salisbury, NC 28144.
Service: 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Bethel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Carroll Robinson and the Rev. Darrell Norris officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
