John Ray Lemly

John Ray Lemly, of Linwood, passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2025, at the age of 84.

He was born on April 11, 1940, in Rowan County to the late Lloyd and Wilma Morgan Lemly. He is the son-in-law of Boyd and Virgina Hunnicutt.

John worked as an Insurance Agent for the NC Finishing Company. He was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents and in-laws, he is preceded in death by his wife Joyce Hunnicutt Lemly; sister Janie Trexler; and son-in-law Tony Gegorek.

Left to cherish his memory is his daughter Angie Gegorek of Linwood; grandchildren Shelby Knotts (Dakota) of Linwood, Chris Gegorek (Shelley) of Chapel Hill; and great-grandchildren Emma & Ryan Knotts, and Adam Gegorek.

Daughter Cindy Beaver (Brent) of Spencer; grandchildren Jessica Smith (Amy); and great-grandchildren Ella & Finley Smith.

The family will hold a private family graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Hospice House of Rowan County.
