Jones Nathan Steele passed away at home on March 19, 2026, at the age of 81.
He was born on July 1, 1944, in Iredell County to the late Lottie Frances Miller Steele and Clyde Edward Steele.
Jones was the owner and operator of Jones Steele Store. He was a member of the South River Church and the Scotch Ireland Masonic Lodge #154. He was also a retired founding member of the Rowan-Iredell Fire Department.
In addition to his parents, Jones is preceded in death by his grandson Jacob Steele; brother Charles Steele; and nephew Eddie Steele.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Joyce Deadmon (married March 28, 1965); sons Jody (Traci) Steele of Cleveland and Todd (Dannie) Steele of Statesville; niece Monda (Rick) Griggs of Salisbury; grandchildren Claire Steele (Peter Abee) and Sarah Steele; and great-niece Morgan (Jake) Narron.
A visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 pm on Sunday March 22, 2026, at South River Church Fellowship Hall, 2880 S River Church Rd, Woodleaf, NC 27054. A service will follow at 3:30 pm and be officiated by Pastor Mike Sain and Tim Kelty. Burial to follow in the church cemtery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Cemetery Fund at South River Church, or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County in Statesville (2341 Simonton Rd, Statesville, NC 28625).
