Joshua Bumgarner

Joshua “Josh” Bumgarner, age 37, passed away on Wednesday August 28, 2024, at home. He was born on January 19, 1987, in Conway, SC to Jeffrey Bumgarner and Verna Matheson Griggs Bumgarner. He attended the Johnson Wales Culinary School in Charlotte, NC.

If you knew Josh then you know what an avid Duke fan he was, especially when it came to Duke basketball. Josh was happiest when listening to some Grateful Dead or Widespread Panic tunes with his friends. He could be just as content doing a little fishing as well.

Preceding him in death are his maternal grandfather Thomas M. Griggs; his paternal grandparents Chad and Joyce Bumgarner; and his favorite cousin Rebecca Bass.

Josh will be missed dearly by his friends Samantha Peeler and “Cush”, and his childhood friends Alex, Austin, Brett, and Josh.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving mother; his father Jeffrey Bumgarner; his grandmother Faye Griggs of Florence, SC; his Aunt Cindy Bass of Florence, SC; his uncle Joe Bumgarner of North Myrtle Beach, SC; and his cousins Katie Bass and Will Bass of Florence, SC.

His biggest love was his faithful dog, Sadie. The two of them are now reunited and probably playing endless rounds of catch.

Josh’s mother will receive friends at her home. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
