Juanita Heglar

Juanita Heglar, 78, of Salisbury, NC passed away at her home with family by her side. Juanita was born in Salisbury, NC on April 16, 1947. She was the daughter of John Thorton Massey and Rachel Severt Massey. Juanita graduated from West Rowan High School.

She was the heart of our family- a quiet strength, a gentle guide, and a constant source of unconditional  love and devotion. Her life was not measured by possession or accolades, but by the countless moments she gave of herself to others. Family was her greatest joy. She celebrated every milestone, comforted every sorrow, and made even the smallest of gatherings feel like treasured occasions. Her home was a place where laughter was shared freely, where meals were seasoned with love, and where everyone felt they belonged. Her selflessness was woven into the fabric of her days in the way she listened without judgement, in the sacrifices she made without hesitation, and in the kindness she extended without expecting anything in return. She taught us that true strength is found in compassion, and that the most meaningful legacy is the love we leave behind.

Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit lives on in the traditions she began, the values she instilled, and the love she poured into each of us.
We will carry her lessons forward, honoring her not just in words, but the way we live our lives with open hearts, generous hands, and unwavering devotion to family. Her favorite destination was her cabin in Galax, VA sharing cookouts, laughter, bonfires, and canoeing on the New River.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Henry Donald Heglar whom she married on June 27, 1965. Her son; Dwayne Heglar (Annie), her daughters, Shawna (Sean) and Jenine Jones (Elbe); Grandchildren Nick Heglar (Joanna) and Mackenzie (Dylan); great grandchildren , Josie and Reid Heglar; Her brother, John Massey (Jann) and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Jan 10, 2026 from 1-2p at Franklin Baptist Church, Salisbury, NC with a service following.
