Kathleen Ruth Dunn, 75, of Salisbury passed peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at the Autumn Care of Salisbury Skilled Nursing Home in Salisbury, NC. Her husband thanks the staff of Autumn Care for the compassionate care provided while she was in residence.
Born January 21, 1948 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of Evelyn Wells and William Dunn. Kathleen was an active member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church of Salisbury, serving on the Vestry and also on the Altar Guild. For many years she was a member of the choir. She also was a member of the Salisbury Symphony Guild and volunteered with the Historic Salisbury Foundation, several years as a docent at the Hall House museum. Kathleen graduated from Walter Johnson High School (Bethesda, MD) and the University of Maryland. She was a proud member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. Kathleen worked for many years with the U.S. Department of Transportation, Maritime Administration as a Transportation Analyst, retiring in 2003. Kathleen enjoyed reading and singing. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed being the hostess at parties as well as finding interesting restaurants. She also enjoyed travelling with her husband, visiting all 50 States, 62 countries, and going on 64 cruises.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her lovely daughter Abigail Kathleen Burroughs who died of cancer at the age of 21 in 2001. Also preceding her in death was a brother – Billy Dunn.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Gene E. Krueger of Salisbury; sisters Barbara (Jack) Doane of Rockville, MD; Eileen Telford (John) Maloy of St. Augustine, FL; Mary Simpson of Harrisburg, PA; and brother John Dunn of Rockville, MD. Also her two stepsons, Will (Crystal) Krueger of Peoria, AZ; Chris Krueger of Flagstaff, AZ; grandchildren Abby, Lexsi, Riah, Samson and Averi of Peoria, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements: A funeral service will be held April 26 at 11am at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Salisbury. The service also will be livestreamed on the church’s Facebook page. Her cremains will be placed in the church’s columbarium at the conclusion of the service.
