Larry Smith Obituary

Larry Leroy Smith, 64, of Mooresville passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023 at the W.G. Bill Hefner VA Medical Center.

Born in Iredell County on November 2, 1958, he was the son of the late Gladys Harrison Smith and Roy Leory Smith.

Mr. Smith was a veteran of the US Army. He was a hard worker and worked for Cannon Mills for 20 years. He attended the Church of Christ in Statesville until health issues didn’t allow him to go. He enjoyed fishing, football, history, and going to the library.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his uncles, Aaron Harrison, Clifton Maddox, Robert Smith, James Smith, Hoaesa Smith, and Willie Maddox, Jr.; aunts, Betty Caldwell, Addie James Gillian, Janie Maddox Wilson, Bertha Smith, Gloria Smith, and Babe Smith.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 35 years, Chriszetta Patterson Smith; daughters, Latasha D. Patterson (James) of Charlotte and Antonishia D. Patterson of Charlotte; sisters, Marilyn Smith Grimes (Jay Lynn, Jr.) and Shelvie White (Reid); grandson, Jayden Perkins, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Service: 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144 with the Rev. Ken Reynolds officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Lyerly Volunteer Joint Services Honor Guard.
