Lawrence Fitch

Lawrence “Larry” Fitch, age 88, passed away at his home in Mocksville on July 10, 2024. He was born on July 6, 1936 in Shinopple, NY. He is survived by his loving wife Linda Messick Fitch; his daughters Lauri (Sam) Neubauer of Maryland and Kristy (Tom) Smith of Hickory, NC; his grandchildren LR (Mary) Neubauer of Maryland, Sam Neubauer of Maryland, and Lauren (Travis) Teegarden of Maryland; and his 3 great-grandchildren whom he adored. He is also survived by bonus children and their respective families that he loved as his own: Kathy Cassano of Virginia, Bob Allin of Virginia, Pat (Buddy) Smith of Salisbury, Larry (Lana) Earnhardt of Salisbury, and Clark (Mitzi) Earnhardt of South Carolina. Siblings Bonnie Shaver of New York, Shirley Katleski of Florida, Bryan Fitch of New York, Doug Fitch of New York, and Dar Fitch of Pennsylvania will also cherish his memory.

Larry was predeceased by his parents Arnold and Juanita Fitch, his brothers Alan and Dennis, and his first wife Ruth.

Larry is a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. After a long career in heavy construction as a construction engineer, he retired and moved to Mocksville. In recent years he enjoyed beach trips, fishing, making walking sticks, playing cribbage, and having conversations with whomever he came in to contact with. He loved his church, Westside Baptist, as well as his pastor, Joel Hiatt, and was well loved by the membership there. Larry was assured of his salvation.

A memorial service honoring the life of Larry Fitch will take place at a later date. Please feel welcome to stop by the home and share memories with Linda and the family.
