Linda Dudney Briggs of Salisbury, NC, 83, passed away on Dec. 20, 2024, at Rowan Medical Center. She had been in declining health for a couple of months.
Linda was born on August 12, 1941, to the late Horace Milton Dudney and Roudy Turbeville Dudney.
She graduated from Boyden High School in 1959, and later attended Mitchell Community College. After school, she was most recently employed by FCX Fertizilizer Plant, and Southern States Fertilizer where she was Office Manager until she retired in 2004.
Linda was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church for over 60 years. She served on multiple committees during this time. She also joined Zi Alpha Delta/ Beta Sigman Phi Sorority in 1979 and was still active. She received many recognition awards, including being voted Woman of the Year in NC and SC in 2001, 2006 and 2012. She thrived being with her Sorority Sisters.
She enjoyed watching The Atlanta Braves baseball games. That love stemmed from watching her own two sons play baseball when younger. Fishing was another all-time favorite, especially when she and Don would disappear to the coast every fall, or just go to the family pond. She became addicted to computer games, always delaying anything else until she finished the game. She and Don traveled by air and train throughout the US, visiting Arizona more than any place as her daughter lived there. But… overall, her grandchildren were the apples of her eyes. There was never a time that she was too busy to do something with them.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Faye Vermillon, and Brenda Graham, and brother Mickey Dudney.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Donald Wayne Briggs (married October 1960), Daughter Kimberly Price (Randy), sons DeWayne (Wendy) and Darryl (Shannon). She was blessed with 9 grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great great grandchild.
A celebration of life will be held at Salem Lutheran Church on Dec. 28, 2024. Visitation will be at 10:00am with the service to be held at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Salem Improvement fund.
