Luther William Floyd, 86, of Salisbury passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023 at his daughter’s residence in Pineville, NC.
Born in Spartanburg, SC on September 4, 1936, he was the son of the late Vernie Berryville Floyd and Roy Floyd.
Mr. Floyd served five years in the US Army, and five years in the US Navy. After his 10 years of service, he received his pilots license. He made his career as a welder and retired from PPG in Lexington. He loved his country and was proud to have served in our military. He would go every month to his veteran’s meetings. Mr. Floyd was a member of Stallings Memorial Baptist Church and loved being able to go and fellowship with others. He loved his wife of 58 years before her passing in 2017, and he loved his daughter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia M. Floyd; brother, James “J.R.” Floyd; sister, Evelyn Morris.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Crystal Floyd; brother, Glenn Floyd; sisters, Polly Smith and Quanita Smart; grand dogs, Sammie and LaLa.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Stallings Memorial Baptist Church, 817 S. Main St, Salisbury, NC 28144 with Pastor Larry Gilbreath officiating. Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144 with military honors conducted by the Lyerly Volunteer Joint Services Honor Guard.
