Margaret Jean Maynard peacefully passed away on September 29, 2023, at the age of 91 in Salisbury, North Carolina. She was born on February 28, 1932, in Northville, Michigan, to Maxine Geddes Willoughby and Robert D Willoughby. She grew up in Plymouth, Michigan and attended Indiana University.
Margaret Jean will be lovingly remembered by her surviving family members, including her sister, Janet Willoughby Stuart (Richard). She is also survived by her loving children, Lawrence C Willoughby, Elizabeth L Foley, and Sarah M Scholl (Curtis), and her 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.
Margaret Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Maxine and Robert, her brother, Robert Willoughby, her sister-in-law, Sandy, and her daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Willoughby.
Margaret Jean had a gift for singing and playing piano and was an accomplished writer, she had a quick wit and could answer Jeopardy questions even as her dementia increased. She loved singing hymns and was active in her church.
A memorial service to celebrate Margaret Jean's life will be held in Plymouth, Michigan. It will be at Riverside Cemetery on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 1pm.
Margaret Jean's warm presence, love for her family, and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
