Martha Louise Pinkston Bogle, age 91, died on September 26, 2022, at The Laurels of Salisbury.
She was born on October 30, 1930, in Rowan County, the daughter of the late Carrie Graham Pinkston and Adam Locke Pinkston. She attended the Rowan County Schools and was married to Homer Ray Bogle, son of Harvey Wakefield and Harriet Elizabeth Albright Bogle, on November 28, 1949. She was employed as a former kindergarten teacher and seamstress. Martha was a life-long member of Salem Lutheran Church where she served multiple functions including church council, numerous service committees and lay ministries, and participation in the Salem Church Women for decades. Her church service also included teaching Lutheran Catechism and Sunday School instruction. Martha was well known for her generous service to the local community where she would bake, sew, barber, baby-sit and sponsor quilting parties. She also resided in Charleston, South Carolina from 2009-2018 before returning to Salisbury. She will be remembered for her dedicated service to the church and community.
In addition to her parents and husband, Martha was preceded in death by sibling brothers John (Bud) and Tom Pinkston, and sisters Ailene Pinkston, Elsie Pinkston Lowder, and Lillie Pinkston Bogle. She is survived by her youngest sister Hazel Pinkston Cline (Bill) of China Grove. Left for her remembrance are daughters Theresa Bogle Athey (Carl) of Salisbury, Debbie Bogle Barton (Bill) of Manchester, TN, and sons Barry Bogle (Sarah) of Salisbury, and Phillip Bogle of North Charleston, SC. Grandchildren are Scott Bogle, Travis Bogle, Curtis Athey, Stacy Moore, Adam Barton, and Ray Bogle, and great-grandchildren Wyatt and Elizabeth Bogle, Faith and Austin Moore, Jayden Athey, Blake, Ava, and Joey Barton.
Visitation: 12:00-12:45 PM Sunday, October 2, 2022 at the parlor of Salem Lutheran Church, 5080 Sherrills Ford Rd, Salisbury, NC 28147.
Service: 1:00 PM Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Salem Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dawn Rister officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
