Martha (Marlowe) Whaley

Martha Whaley, 93, of China Grove passed away Saturday, October 10, 2020 at her residence.  

Born in Mooresville, NC on January 20, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Nora Elizabeth Baker Marlowe and John Dewey Marlowe.

Martha attended Mooresville High School and worked for Propst Brothers Distributors as the manager of Laura’s Pantry. She was a charter member of Christian Fellowship Church where she never wavered in her faith of her Lord and Savior. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and enjoyed going to the beach.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H.A. Whaley, whom she married on December 17, 1949; brothers, Ross Issac Marlowe, who was killed in WWII at the Battle of the Bulge and John Albert Marlowe “Whitey”; sister, Helen Washam “Aunt Nannie”.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Ross A. Tony Whaley (Sharon) of Kannapolis, Holly Childers (Charles) of China Grove, and Scott Whaley (June) of China Grove; grandchildren, Andy Whaley (Melissa) of China Grove, Chad Alley (Kelli), and Brian Alley; great grandchildren, Parker Whaley, Emrie Alley, Cameron Alley, Sam and Lily; special nieces and nephews, Portia, Dexter, Marilyn, and Debbie.

Service: 3:00 pm Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Christian Fellowship Church, 1501 Central Dr., Kannapolis, NC 28083 with Pastor Tim Newton officiating.
