Mary Cox Obituary

Mary Ellen Cox, 77, of Salisbury passed away peacefully on Sunday January 10, 2021 at CMC Northeast Hospital. Born July 18, 1943 in Caretta, West Virginia, She was the proud "Coal Miner's Daughter" of the late Clarence Thomas Jenkins and Georgia Lee Jenkins of West Virginia. 

Mary spent all of her adult years as a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. She married the love of her life, James R. Cox on August 1st 1963. Married for 57 years, they created a beautiful life together and had four children. There was nothing more precious or more important than her family. She was a loving and devoted woman of Faith. Her love of God shown through everything she did. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Tabernacle in Salisbury and loved her church family dearly. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers Buster Jenkins (Caretta, WVA), Earl Jenkins (Bunker Hill, WVA), James C. Jenkins (Lerona, WVA), sister Ruby Snow (Roanoke, VA), and her first born daughter Karen Sue Cox who we know she is finally getting to hold after all these years. 

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved and loving husband James R. Cox, son James T. Cox (Sue Cox), son Kevin Cox (Jennifer Coe) and daughter Kristen Shepherd (Dale Shepherd), Sister Mildred Senter (late Eddie Senter) of Indiana, Sister Nancy Crampton (Buster Crampton) of Maryland, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

A Celebration of Life service may be held at a later date in which the family will notify. 

In lieu of flowers the family asks for a donation to be made to the Leukemia Cancer Foundation.
