Michael Wayne Hardister of Salisbury, NC passed away at the Rowan Regional Hospital on January 30, 2025, at the age of 78.
He was born on December 12, 1946, in Montgomery County to the late Mack Hardister and Delta Callier Hardister of Norwood, NC.
Mike was a graduate of Pompano Beach High School. He served as an officer in the Ft Lauderdale Police Department after attending Brower County Community College. Mike returned to North Carolina in 1980 to work in the family tire business before starting his wholesale and retail jewelry store in Albemarle. He also owned the Hardister Group as a licensed independent insurance broker. He enjoyed leisure travel with family and friends and was an avid golfer, and his contagious laughter will be missed.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Christopher Hardister.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Lois Miller Hardister, his brother Darrell (wife Robyn) Hardister of Asheville; his sister Cheryl (husband Terry) Lewis of Rockingham; his step-son Christopher Miller of Friendsville, TN; his step-son Jim (wife Melody) Quick of Concord; his step-daughter Dr. Amy (husband Scott) Mahle of Concord; and step-grandchildren Jeremy Mahle of Concord; and Emily (husband Winston) Rheinbolt of Salisbury and their three children.
A small private service for the family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in his honor to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, a charity of your choice, or his home church of Grace City Church of China Grove.
