Michael Gerry Smith, 68, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at the W.G. Bill Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born in Rowan County on December 16, 1951, he was the son of the late Lucy Carolyn Jennings Smith and David Rowan Smith.
A veteran of the US Marine Corps, Michael graduated from Boyden High School in 1969. He attended Organ Lutheran Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Chris Jacobs Smith, Timothy David Smith, and Victor Jarrell Smith.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Michael Gary Smith of Amarillo, TX; daughter, Angela Michelle Stepro of Evansville, IN; brother, Wayne Smith (Tammy) of Rockwell; sister, Sue Phillips of Salisbury and seven grandchildren, five nephews and four nieces.
Graveside Service: 10:00 am Friday, July 31, 2020, at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144. Military honors will be conducted by the Lyerly Joint Services Honor Guard.
