Mike Heryla

Mike Heryla, 96, formerly of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2026. He was born on September 30, 1929, in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Mike was married to Marilyn Dildine Heryla for 69 years. He attended Hackettstown High School and following graduation, served in the United States Army and Army reserves. Over a 35-year military career, he rose to the rank of Command Sergeant Major.

He later spent his time working as a program analyst at Picatinny Arsenal in Dover, New Jersey. After retiring, he and Marilyn relocated to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where he enjoyed an active lifestyle. He spent his time golfing, reading the newspaper, following his favorite sports teams, caring for his miniature schnauzers, and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.

Mike will be remembered fondly by those who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his son, Micheal Heryla; his daughter, Michele Duffy; his daughter-in-law, Karen; his son-in-law, Chris; his four grandchildren, Carice, Jason, Lindsay, and Morgan; and his eight great-grandchildren, who brought him great pride and happiness.
