Mitchell Douglas Snider passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 69 peacefully at home in Salisbury, NC with his beloved wife Shirley, having been diagnosed with lung cancer just a few short months ago. Well known in Rowan County as a businessman, he proudly built and operated Sniders Quality Roofing for 35 years. Known to many as Pappy, PawPaw or Mitch he leaves a legacy of love, soft-hearted and never tiring in his effort to take care of his family and those dear to him. Together with his wife of 25 years, Shirley, they built a home where true love, devotion and cherishing were on display for all that knew them. Known for his principles, he stood for doing what’s right no matter the cost or sacrifice. He never met a stranger, treating everyone equal, always regarding others over himself.
Pappy was a remarkable man, accepting and fun loving. Always so positive and a source of true goodness this side of Heaven. His nurturing and joyful energy will be deeply missed. People may not remember everything he ever said but we will always remember the way he made us feel.
Favorite pastimes, his yard - his palm trees, his banana trees, every plant and flower he cherished. Scouring the riverbanks collecting arrowheads. Jetting off to the beach as often as he and Shirley could, searching for sharks’ teeth and building sandcastles. Even building a sandy beach of his own in his yard. He loved his motorcycle, corvettes and golfing. Proud of his Native American heritage, which he proudly displayed in his home and on the logo of his business, two feathers.
Mitchell gave more love, faith, kindness, and forgiveness than any of us could possibly have given him back. Those jewels and blessings bestowed on him now in Heaven. We are confident the loving words he first heard from our Heavenly father were "well done, thou good and faithful servant”.
He was born on January 11, 1956, in Rowan County to the late Odell Snider and Evelyn Snider. He was the owner of Sniders Quality Roofing.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Teresa Kay, his son Chad Giberson, and his grandson Luis Gomez.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Shirley Snider of the home; as well as their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren.
