Obituary

Mitzi Deese Baker, 68, of Salisbury, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday morning, March 28, 2023.

Mitzi is survived by her husband of 48 years Charlie Baker, children Melissa Cowan (Kenny) and Amy Salava (Eric), grandsons Solomon Reynolds and Jase Salava, and siblings Claudia Caughell and Andy Deese.

She was born October 25, 1954 in Rowan County to Claude Elwood and Betty Dodd Deese. Mitzi was a graduate of North Rowan High School, Rowan Cabarrus Community College, and Wingate University, where she earned her Bachelors degree in Nursing. She retired from the WG (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center where she spent 29 years as a Registered Nurse. Fiercely devoted to her family, Mitzi most enjoyed spending time with her husband, daughters, and beloved boxer Roxie and could often be found at the end of the dock with a fishing pole in her hand waiting for the next big catch.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings Bonnie, Tony, Paul, and Eric.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glenn A Kiser Hospice House at 1229 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144.
