Nancy Clary Obituary

Nancy Kendrick Clary, 91, entered the gates of heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on December 1, 2025. She was born in Shelby, NC to Thomas Grady and Pearl Moore Kendrick, one of seven siblings and a twin to Norma. She graduated from Number Three High School and studied at Gardner Webb University before marrying Mitchell E. Clary on September 11, 1955.

Nancy was known for her kindness and servant’s heart. She became a Christian at the age of 9 and spent a lifetime of love serving others. She was active in her church, Cary First Baptist, for over five decades and worked in Women’s Aglow International and Prison Ministry for many years. She was a true prayer warrior and spent time daily praying for her family, friends, our nation and the unsaved. Loved by family and friends in Cary, Shelby, Statesville, Waynesville and beyond, Nancy is survived by her daughters, Lisa Holshouser (husband Mike) of Salisbury, Amy Bytnar of Cary, her grandsons Kevin Holshouser (wife Ashley) of Woodleaf, Samuel Bytnar of Holly Springs, Lawson Bytnar (wife Sophie) of Holly Springs, and sisters Marilyn Ferree and Norma Poston, sister-in-law, Nell Kendrick and brothers-in-law Bob Clary (wife Jeanette) and Evans Lemons, all of Shelby; and Claude Helton of Mount Airy.  She was especially proud of her great granddaughters, Sadie and Wrenley Holshouser. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mitch, sisters Jean Reynolds and Donnis Holmes, brothers Roger and Tommy Kendrick, and son-in-law Kevan Bytnar.

A celebration of her life will be held on February 21, 2026 at Cary First Baptist at 218 South Academy Street in Cary. Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00pm and will be followed by the service at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Cary First Baptist.
