Nelda Pauline (Erichsen) Wicklund

Nelda P. Wicklund, 100, of Salisbury, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Trinity Oaks Retirement Community. She was born September 24, 1925, to the late Ira and Tusnelda Erichsen. In addition to her parents, Nelda was preceded in death by her husband, John Wicklund, her son, Eric Wicklund, and her sisters Beatrice Kavinoky and Leone Pippin.

Nelda grew up in Pasadena, California and received her bachelor’s degree in business from the University of California, Berkeley. She moved to Washington DC in the 1950’s and worked in personnel for the CIA which included two years in Japan. Upon her return to the United States, she married the love of her life, John, and they settled in Maryland. Nelda was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Nelda had several hobbies which included sewing, counting cross-stitch, and reading. She loved traveling the world with her husband.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Kathy Nelson (Doug) of Tobaccoville, NC; granddaughters Heather Jauregui (JoseMi) of Washington, DC and Hilary Dover (Grant) of Charlotte, NC; and three great grandchildren: Isabel, Camila, and Maxwell. In addition, she leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank the staff of Trinity Oaks Assisted Living for their care during her later years and Trellis Supportive Care in her final days.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 8 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Oaks.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Oaks Retirement Community, 728 Klumac Road, Salisbury, NC 28144 (trinityoaks.net).
