Patrick Michael Murphy, 66, passed away peacefully at his home on October 13, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family after an eight-month battle with cancer. Though his body grew tired, his faith, humor, and courage never wavered.
Patrick was born to James and Dianne Murphy and lived a life marked by deep devotion—to his family, his country, and the people around him. He proudly served in the National Guard for 27 and a half years, reaching the rank of Warrant Officer Two. His service was a reflection of his strength of character, sense of duty, and his belief in working hard for something greater than himself.
Patrick was the kind of man who could make anyone feel seen and valued. He had a quiet strength, a ready laugh, and an endless capacity to give of himself. Whether it was fixing something that was broken, lending a listening ear, or simply sitting in silence when words weren’t enough, he had a way of making others feel safe and loved.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Berkeley Murphy. He is survived by his loving mother, Dianne Erwin Murphy; his devoted wife and best friend, Julie Lynn Murphy; his brother, Timothy Murphy; and his sisters, Kimberley Sachs and Kirsten Carner.
Patrick’s legacy lives on through his children—Patrick Jr., Kenny, Samantha, Anna-Grace, Chelsea, and Khloee-Joy—each of whom carry pieces of his humor, wisdom, and unshakable love. He was also blessed with grandchildren who filled his heart with joy: Gabriel, Elizabeth, Gray, Evvy, Amara Rose, Iriyon, Praise, Glory, Jordan, Tylan, and Dallas. He will also be remembered fondly by his uncle Bernie, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who became family over the years.
A graveside service to celebrate Patrick’s life will be held at Salisbury National Cemetery on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
Patrick will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his deep love for his family, and the way he lived—with purpose, humility, and heart. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will continue to guide and comfort all who loved him.
