Patsy (Coates) Beaver

Patsy Coates Beaver, 86, of Spencer, NC, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2024. She was born in Rowan County on October 7, 1937. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lucille and Erving Coates, her brother, Floyd Coates, and her beloved husband, Norman Beaver.

Pat leaves behind her daughter, Machielle Sharpe (Phil) of Charlotte, and son, Brent Beaver (Cindy) of Spencer. Grandchildren include: Daniel Sharpe (Cathy), of Concord, Erin Sharpe, of Charlotte, and Jessica (Amy) Smith of Raleigh. Pat was blessed with five great grandchildren; Evan, Carter, Matthew Sharpe, Ella and Finley Smith.

Patsy graduated from Spencer High School as an outstanding basketball player. She taught sewing classes at Singer and then worked at Norman's of Salisbury. She was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church for over 50 years. In previous years, she taught the nursery and preschool classes, served on the kitchen committee, and helped prepare Christmas treat bags.

Pat enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading, feeding and watching birds, and trips to the mountains.

Her service will be held at Oakdale Baptist Church, 200 Charles St, Spencer, NC 28159 on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. Visitation will be in the Family Life Center from 1:00-2:00 PM. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM in the church with Pastor Jonathan Collins officiating. A graveside service will be held in the church cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oakdale Baptist Church.
