Peggy Laverne (Cauble) Canup

Peggy Laverne Cauble Canup, age 95, passed away at the Laurels of Salisbury on March 28, 2025.

She was born on January 29, 1930, in Davidson County to the late Beulah Leonard Cauble and Jay Thomas Cauble.

Peggy was a student at the Lexington and Salisbury Schools. She graduated from Boyden High School and went on to be a homemaker. She loved playing piano at nursing homes, gardening, and shelling at the beach.

In addition to her parents, she is proceeded in death by her first husband Eugene John Grubb and her second husband Billy Seay Canup; her children Thomas Eugene “Chip” Grubb, Vickie Grubb Rogers, and Judy Gilbert; her brothers J.T. Cauble and Carl Benjamin Cauble; and her sister Marie Rogers.

Left to cherish her memory are Jason Grubb (Susan) of Lexington, Jeffrey Grubb (Ashley) of Mt. Pleasant, B.J. Rogers (Shontavia) of Monroe, Kimberly Rogers of Concord, Teresa Myers of Rockwell, Jeremy Gilbert of Salisbury, Cindy (Robert) Coleman of Salisbury; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; her daughter-in-law Vickie Grubb of Salisbury; her son-in-law Roger Gilbert of Salisbury; and Gene (Chris) Canup of Salisbury.

A visitation will be from 10:00-11:00am on Wednesday April 2, 2025 at the Bethel Church Fellowship Building, 355 E Ridge Rd, Salisbury, NC 28144. The funeral will be at 11:00 at the Bethel Lutheran Church, will Pastor Lex Barnhill officiating. The burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park, 4125 Franklin Comm Center Rd, Salisbury, NC 28144.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Bethel Lutheran Church.
