Raymond Jones Mayberry Jr

Raymond Jones Mayberry, 82, departed this life to be with his Savior and Lord on December 13, 2023. He was born on January 4, 1941, and grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Ray served in the United States Navy and worked for many years in construction following his military service. He enjoyed all sports, particularly tennis, golf, baseball, basketball, football, and NASCAR. He was a faithful Tar Heel fan. He was also an avid reader, particularly western novels.

Ray had a strong faith in Jesus. He loved and supported his church. For the last ten years, he was a pillar of Neighborhood Church in Huntersville. He cared about people. He was humble and kind. He supported mission work especially in Cuba where he helped renovate a church and minister to the people there. Friendships he developed in Cuba lasted his lifetime. That seemed to happen with most of his friendships. To know Ray was to love him and to know that you were loved in return.

A memorial service is planned for 11:00am on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at New Beginnings Moravian Church located at 201 Seagle Street in Huntersville, North Carolina. A lunch will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.

A burial service with military honors will take place Tuesday, January 16, at 2:00pm, at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144.
