Rev. Jerry Wayne Brooks Sr.

Beloved husband, father, and grandfather Jerry Wayne Brooks Sr., 76, went home to be with the Lord on November 4, 2024, peacefully in his home. Jerry was born on September 11, 1948 in Rowan County, North Carolina.

Jerry was introduced to the love of his life in high school, and he and Sylvia later married on April 19, 1969. Jerry and Sylvia would go on to have three children and three grandchildren, all of whom he loved fiercely and were the center of his world.

Jerry attended Gardner-Webb University (class of ‘83), subsequently beginning his ministry at Temple Baptist Church in Henrietta, North Carolina. He served there for over 17 years and was known as ‘Pastor Jerry’ to many in the community and ‘Friend’ to countless more. He was happiest when serving the Lord, doing for others, and being surrounded by family and friends. He particularly loved gatherings, celebrating special occasions, and holidays.

Jerry is survived by his steadfast, loving wife of 55 years Sylvia Beckom Brooks; his two children Jerry Wayne Brooks Jr. and Alison Joy Woods and her husband Joseph; his three grandchildren Laurel Brooks, Coriana Woods, and Calista Woods; and beloved nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his Parents, Jerry was predeceased by his son Chad Brooks; and brothers Ray Weaver and Butch Weaver. 

All services will be under the direction of Lyerly Funeral Home, Salisbury, North Carolina. Services will be held at Rowan Memorial Park, 4125 Franklin Comm Center Rd, Salisbury, NC 28144, in the mausoleum at 11:00 am on Monday, November 11, 2024. Officiating will be Rev. Robby Hensley.
