Robert Lemuel Boren, 87, of Salisbury passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at his residence.
Born in Trigg County, KY on March 11, 1934, he was the son of the late Rosie Hunter Boren and Lemuel Odell Boren.
Robert was a veteran of the US Army, serving in the 1st Battalion Armored Division. He later worked in construction management. He was a member of Franklin Baptist Church, where he was very active prior to his illness. Robert enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with family. He also loved to fry chicken. He was a strong, quiet, and gentle man that was humble and a true friend that will be truly missed by family and friends alike.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dalcie Keller; brothers, Lloyd and J.B. Boren; daughter, Shelli Thomas.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jean Heglar Boren, whom he married on May 24, 1975; son, Robert Scott Boren of Salisbury; daughters, Misty Lee Boren of Colorado Springs, CO, Andrea Boley (Joey) of Salisbury, and Becky Bost (Darryl) of Salisbury; grandchildren, Shauna Thomas, Billy Thomas, Steven Thomas, Robbie Thomas, Whitney Bost, Brooke Steele, Kayla Corbett, Kristen Boley, and Kelly Boley; great-grandchildren, Hailey and Nova Trevino, Kelsie and Bristol Steele; son-in-law, Michael Thomas of CA.
Visitation: 10:00-10:45 AM Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Franklin Baptist Church, 3810 US Hwy 601, Salisbury, NC 28147.
Service: 11:00 AM Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Franklin Baptist Church with Pastor Joe Thomas officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Lyerly Volunteer Joint Services Honor Guard. Burial will take place at Salisbury National Cemetery at a later date.
The family requests that masks be worn at the service.
