Robert William Cartner, Jr., 76, of Salisbury passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.
Born in Davie County on June 27, 1945, he was the son of the late Mary Margaret Gibson and Robert William Cartner, Sr.
Robert was a Vietnam War veteran, serving 10 years in the US Army. He retired from Walmart and attended Morning Star Baptist Church. He was a member of American Legion Post #65 in Statesville and Rolling Thunder Chapter 2.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Ann Vierra and brother, Jerry Wayne Cartner.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patricia Ann Lewis Cartner, whom he married on April 7, 1988; children, Patricia L. Cartner of Statesville, Jeffrey W. Cartner (Stephanie) of Tennessee, Michael Schiavone of Oakland, CA, and Pamela Grubb (Christopher) of Mocksville; sister, Mary Frances Cartner (Shorty); nine grandchildren, two nieces, and four nephews.
Service: 12:00 Noon Friday, October 22, 2021 at Rowan Memorial Park Chapel in the Pines, 4125 Franklin Community Center Rd, Salisbury, NC 28144 with Pastor Ron Young officiating.
