Robert E Fuertinger passed away, surrounded by his family, on February 6, 2026, at the age of 85.
He was born on July 31, 1940, in Mt. Kisco, NY to the late Robert Fuertinger and Adele Bauer Fuertinger.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Marge Fuertinger.
Bob was a builder in every sense of the word. He built race cars with precision, computers with patience and his meals brought everyone together. Whether he was tuning an engine in the garage, using his computer to master the art of digital photography, or standing at the stove perfecting a favorite recipe, he worked with focus, pride, and heart.
He was also a man of deep generosity. He quietly supported nonprofits and causes that mattered to him. He took care of his neighbors the same way he took care of his family, showing up, lending a hand, and offering help without hesitation.
He also cherished his friends at The Forum. Staying active was important to him, but even more meaningful were the friendships he built there.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Debra Potvin (Jay) of Salisbury; son Robert Fuertinger (Christine) of Breckenridge, CO and beloved granddaughter Gabrielle Sebastian (Tryston) of China Grove, NC. He also leaves behind a very special great granddaughter, Ellie Sebastian. In addition, he leaves behind his sister Joyce Fuertinger and brother John Fuertinger along with several nephews and nieces.
The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
