Ronald Lewis “Cotton” Moss, 70, of Salisbury passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at the W.G. Bill Hefner VA Medical Center.
Born in Iredell County on May 1, 1951, he was the son of the late Vernell Smith Moss and Arthur Moss.
Mr. Moss was a 1969 graduate of Newton Conover High School. He served his country in the US Navy, earning the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal. Mr. Moss was a retired auto mechanic and a faithful member of Word of Life Family Worship Center where he was a member of the men’s choir, gospel choir, usher board, and the Mighty Men of Valor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald William Moss and sister, Gloria Moss.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Vivian Davis Moss, whom he married on April 23, 2016; daughters, Beverly LaShay Barber of Cary, NC and Aisha Deshelle James of Newton, NC; brothers, Arthur Raymond Moss (Vesetta) of Virginia, Michael Moss of Charlotte, NC, and Brady White (Sandra) of Mooresville, NC; sisters, Audrey Moss Hewitt of Greensboro, NC and Rosa Glover (Michael) of Statesville, NC; godson, Marcus Kirby (Andrea) of Greensboro; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Service: 10:00 AM Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Salisbury National Cemetery with Dr. Martha Starks and Elder Virginia Brown officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Lyerly Volunteer Joint Services Honor Guard.
