Ronnie "Gib" Spivey

Ronnie “Gib” Spivey, 81, of Sanford, passed away June 7, 2020, at his residence in Sanford.

Born in Harnett County, NC on June 5, 1939, he was the son of the late  Mae Bolin Spivey and the late Earl Spivey.

Ronnie was a graduate of the North Carolina School for the Deaf and was inducted into the NC Hall of Fame for the Deaf for his athletic ability in all sports in 1989.  He retired from GKN Automotive in Sanford and also was a farmer.  His hobbies included building trucks and farming.

In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Almedia Medinger Spivey, great-granddaughter, MaKenna Faith Fore and brother, Wayne Spivey.

Those left to cherish his memory are his; son, Ricky Spivey; daughters, Kathy Darnell (Steve) and Paula Smith; grandchildren, Nicole Trembley, Natalie Freeman, Brittany Adams, Austin Adams, Chelsea Williams, Orie Hamilton and Zack Hamilton and 7 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 1 PM on June 12, 2020, at Oakdale Baptist Church Cemetery, 200 Charles Street, Spencer, NC  28159.
