Ruby “Carol” McDaniel Bassinger passed away following a long and courageous battle with Metastatic liver cancer at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House on December 5, 2025, at the age of 82.
She was born on November 10, 1943, in Rowan County to the late Mary Deal McDaniel and George Washington McDaniel.
Carol graduated from Boyden High School and went on to study at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. She loved traveling, visiting the beach often, and was a wonderful cook. She adored and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Margaret Williams (Grady), George McDaniel Jr. (Jo), Raymond McDaniel (Lavie), Mildred Bailey (Jim), Claude McDaniel, and Sylvia Huffman (Ralph).
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 60 years, Ronald “Ronnie” Bassinger; siblings Priscilla Winecoff (Fred), Marvin McDaniel (Sylvia), Janet Collins, and sister-in-law JoAnn McDaniel; children Sherry Bassinger Fetters (Mark) of Summerfield, NC, and Melissa Basssinger Ratterree (David) of Colfax, NC; grandchildren Parker Fetters of Summerfield, NC, Rylan Fetters of Summerfield, NC, Ben Ratterree of Brooklyn, NY, Brooke Ratterree Stencavage (Eric) of Jacksonville, FL, Bailey Ratterree of Charleston, SC, and Brittany Ratterree of Gastonia, NC; and her great-grandchild Payton Monroe Fetters Hall of Summerfield, NC.
In keeping with Carol’s wishes, there will be no memorial service at this time.
