Ruth Evan Lyerly

Ruth Evan Lyerly, 98, of Salisbury passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023 at Autumn Care of Salisbury.

Born in Rowan County on December 1, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Charles Alexander and Sallie Miller Lyerly.

Ms. Lyerly graduated from Rockwell High School in 1942. She retired from Pillowtex Fieldcrest Cannon. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church where she was very active in church work and taught Sunday School. Ms. Lyerly was a member of many organizations, including the Willing Workers Group of the ELCA, Blessed Assurance, Seasonal Saints, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Rufty Holmes Senior Center, and the Extension and Community Association Club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Robert Lyerly, J. Edgar Lyerly, Alma L. Weaver, Jane L. Meacham, Mark A. Lyerly, Herman L. Lyerly, and Ethel L. Peeler.

Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Margaret L. Alsobrooks of Salisbury, her beloved 12 nieces, 3 nephews, and 27 grandnieces and grandnephews.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 2570 St. Peters Church Rd, Salisbury, NC 28146. Service will begin at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Sue Lynn White officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
