Sally M. Murray, 59, passed away peacefully in her home in Spencer, NC on May 11th, 2025.
Sally was born on November 13th, 1965 to Frederick and Shirley Jay in Norwood, NY and graduated from Norwood/Norfolk High School in June of 1983. She was a loving daughter and sister to her family and enjoyed photography. She became a devoted mother to her son Bryan in 1989, found her soulmate in her husband Robert (Bob) Murray in 1992, and had her daughter Ashley that same year. Sally devoted herself to her family and was a strong advocate for children with special needs, including her son Bryan.
She loved working at the Special Children’s Center while living in NY and, after moving to NC, loved meeting new people while working at Spanky’s and Zaxby’s before becoming disabled. After that she spent her days gardening, crafting and spoiling her fur babies along with supporting animal rescue organizations. She could always be seen walking in the community accompanied by her dogs.
Sally was preceded in death by her father and mother Frederick Jay and Shirley Jay as well as her sister Yvonne Jay, her brother Michael Jay and his wife Mary Jay, her brother Dennis Jay, and her nephew Oliver Mackey.
She is survived by her husband Robert Murray (Spencer, NC), son Bryan Andrews (Spencer, NC), daughter Ashley Murray and her companion Elliot Garrison (Concord, NC), sisters Susan and Edward Mackey (Norwood, NY), Mary Ellen Adner (Norwood, NY), Kathleen Austin (Parma, Ohio), brothers Danny Jay and Patty Berger (Potsdam, NY), David Jay and Sammi Richardson (Louisville, NY), and Patrick and Sharleen Jay (Norwood, NY) along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will be hosting a drop-in memorial and visitation service for Sally at First Baptist Church of Salisbury 223 N. Fulton St Salisbury, NC 28144 on Saturday, May 17th from 10am-12pm.
