Samuel Cook Sr.

Samuel L. Cook Sr. passed away on January 5, 2025, at the age of 74.

He was born on January 2, 1951, in Chester County, SC to the late John Cook and Ruby Wallace Cook.

Samuel, a 1971 graduate of West Rowan High School, was a veteran of the United States Navy. He went on to become a Department of Correction Officer. He was an immensely proud and devoted family man who was very generous with his family and friends. He loved his animals and had many dogs and cats through the years.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother John Cook; his wife Mary Ann Cook; and his daughter Roxanne Dakin.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons Sam Cook (Stephanie) of Salisbury and Darrell Dakin (Regina) of Cleveland; his grandchildren Dria and Dalton Dakin, and Samuel and Alyssa Cook; his brother Randy Cook (Phyllis) of Asheville; and his sister Tracy Cook of Salisbury.

A graveside service will be held on 2:00 pm on Monday January 13, 2025, at Rowan Memorial Park, 4125 Franklin Comm Center Rd, Salisbury, NC 28144. The service will be conducted by Pastor Stanley Hawkins and honors will be provided by the Lyerly Volunteer Joint Military Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for memorials to be made to Faithful Friends Animal Sanctuary, 220 Grace Church Rd, Salisbury, NC 28147.
