Senora Smith Obituary

Senora Hunter Smith, 92, of Spencer, passed away Saturday November 19, 2022, at Glenn A Kiser Hospice House. Born on February 7, 1930, in Rowan County to the late Archibald Clarence Hunter and Gladys Baker Hunter.

Senora graduated from Spencer High School in 1948 and went on to receive her Associate degree from Mars Hill in 1950. Senora began working in Salisbury N.C. for the American Red Cross and Wachovia Savings and Loan. She later continued her career working for the Foreign Embassy in 1957. With a year of training in Washington D.C. she was then assigned to her station in Ankara Turkey in 1958, this allowed her to pursue her love of traveling. The American Embassy (in Turkey) is also where she met & married her husband William S, Smith, who was at the time a Marine guard at the Embassy. She was a member of the First Baptist church of Spencer.

Senora is preceded in death by both her parents, husband William S. Smith of 54 years, granddaughter Arwen Taylor Smith, daughter in law Sonya Griffin Smith, sister Lula Ann Corwin & husband Don Corwin.

Those left to cherish her are sons Russell Stewart Smith( Susan Carpenter), William “Billy” Smith (girlfriend Teresa Snider) of Salisbury, daughter Sandra Smith Hart (Todd) Savannah GA., grandchildren Rory Smith ( Joseph Korhan), Rachel Jarboe (Brendan), Alyssa Smith, Chandler Bassinger, and 7 great grandchildren.

There will be a service held 11:00 am Friday December 2, 2022, at the Salisbury National Cemetery.
