Sheila Ann Winecoff Sherrill, 71, of Salisbury, passed away Sunday, Jan. 9 at Los Alamitos Medical Center in California, with her loving sons Tony and Justin at her side. She was born July 27, 1950, in Salisbury to the late Robert Tinnie and Mary Louise Atwell Winecoff. She graduated from Boyden High School, class of 1968, and received her BSN from Winston-Salem State University. Sheila dedicated her life to helping others, whether it was her family, friends, patients or strangers in need. After a lifetime career of nursing, she retired from the VA Medical Center in Salisbury, but continued to run COVID clinics to the very end. Sheila loved to spend time with her family and friends, spoil her dogs, Bertha and Hercules, cook, sew, scrapbook and do crafts. She was a member of Mount Hope Church of Salisbury.
In addition to her parents, Sheila was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Tony Wayne Sherrill; brother, Robert Winecoff of Salisbury; and brother, Robbie Winecoff of Salisbury. Sheila is survived by her son, Tony Sherrill, Jr. of Charlotte; son, R. Justin Sherrill and wife Christina of Seal Beach, CA; grandchildren, Addison and Beckett Sherrill; sister, Nancy P. Winecoff of Salisbury; sister, Debbie Langley (John) of Margate, FL; brother, Danny Winecoff of Salisbury; and sister, Lindy Kilby of Palm Beach, FL, many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements: Visitation will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 4:00-5:00 PM in the West Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in China Grove. A graveside memorial service will follow at 5:00 PM, conducted by Pastor Johnny Boggs. The family has asked that masks be worn at services due to increasing Covid cases.
