Shirley Jane Hollar Hildebrand “Maw Maw” passed away at Novant Rowan Medical Center on April 6, 2026, at the age of 96.
She was born on February 8, 1930, in Burke County to the late Gether Jane Duncan Hollar and Henry W. Hollar.
Shirley was a long-time member of Gospel Light Baptist Church where she worked in the Nursery until the age of 85. She was an avid gardener and sewer who loved making clothes for her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Lee Hildebrand; daughter Shirley Ann Bost; great-grandchild Sawyer Stroud; and great-great-grandchild Nila Nichols.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons Jerry Hildebrand (Carolyn) and Rick Hildebrand (Judy) of Salisbury; daughters Jane Nichols and Donna Cranfield (David) of Salisbury and Teresa Stroud (Steve) of China Grove; brother Larry Hollar of Hildebran; sister Linda Wrights (Ken) of Hildebran; 22 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; and 28 great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 pm on Thursday April 9, 2026, at Gospel Light Baptist Church, 2121 Mooresville Rd, Salisbury, NC 28147. A funeral will be held at 1:00 pm. The burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park, 4125 Franklin Comm Center Rd, Salisbury, NC 28144.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the “Dollars for Bibles” Fund at Gospel Light Baptist Church for Rock of Ages Ministries.
