Shirley (Turner) Yount

Shirley Turner “Granny” Yount, 88, of Salisbury passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026 at Novant Health Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House.

Born on March 31, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Anna and John Turner.

Granny worked alongside her husband, Keith, at Yount Construction Company. She lived most of her life as a homemaker and was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and frequently attended Landmark Church. Granny loved fishing at Kure Beach, baking cakes for her family, rocking babies, and talking on the phone. She was a champion bowler, winning many awards and trophies.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Yount; daughter, Sherry Shulenburger; brothers, John and Bill Turner; sisters, Mary Jo Jones, Norma Brown, and Betty Julian; grandchildren, Cole Earnhardt and Garin Kluttz.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Leigh Ann Moore (Jeff) and Angela Chartrau (Todd); brother, Nick Turner (Nancy); sisters, Shelby Peterson and Cathy Allen (Dale); grandchildren, Josh Shulenburger, Travis Shulenburger (Katie), Dustin Moore (Casey Cline), Blake Moore, Logan Kluttz (Leighana); great-grandchildren, Beau Shulenburger, Emma Shulenburger, Ellie Shulenburger, Graham Kluttz, and Brady Kluttz.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 PM on Thursday, February 5 and Friday, February 6, 2026 at her home residence. Please contact a member of her family if you need the address. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Salem Lutheran Church, 5080 Sherrills Ford Rd, Salisbury, NC 28147, with the Rev. Ernest Sheldon and Pastor Mike Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
