Steve Simmons passed away at the VA Liberty Hospice House on August 28, 2024, at the age of 66.
He was born on December 21, 1957, in Germany to Grant Simmons and Edith Hofschire.
Steve was a 1976 graduate of South Dade High School in Homestead Florida. He was a truck driver for OTM- Metrolina Greenhouse for 12 years and was a US Army Veteran of the 8th Division.
He is preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his brothers Ralph Ott and Dvayne Hofschire, both of Columbus, GA; his cousins Jack Simmons (wife Ree, son Chris), Rodney Simmons (daughters BreeAnn and Hannah), Phil Simmons (wife Kay, daughters Courtney Lassiter and Carleigh Wetmore). Steve has many close friends, including Jerome Oliver of Concord, NC, Julie Vanhoose of Easley, SC, Rhonda of FL, Jackie Forest of FL, and Jonathan and Angie Scruggs of Salisbury, NC.
A visitation will be held from 11:00-12:00 on Friday September 6, 2024, at Rowan Memorial Park, 4125 Franklin Comm Center Rd, Salisbury, NC 28144. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 with honors conducted by the Lyerly Joint Military Volunteer Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the VA Hospice.
