Susan Rose Vanderwell

  Susan Rose Vanderwell, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024 in Salisbury, NC.  She was born July 29, 1946 to Gerrit Gerardas Vanderwell and Dorothy Rose Barnes in Honesdale, PA.

   Being the oldest child , she enjoyed caring for her younger siblings. As a result she became a very good cook and big sister, and was proud to do so. As an adult she ran a daycare out of her home in Honesdale for many years.  After that she went on to work as a billing specialist for Wayne Memorial Hospital until she retired.

   Susie had many interests in her life. Besides being a Mom, she loved camping, crocheting, golf and as always cooking. She later moved to North Carolina to be closer to her granddaughter and her family. Little did she know she would meet a wonderful companion for the rest of her days.

   Along with her parents , she was preceded in death by her daughter Tammy Perry, brother John Vanderwell and brother-in-law Harold Martin.

   She is survived by her granddaughter Jessica Jacobsen and husband Bryan of Salisbury NC, and great grandchildren Dakota and Mikailyn Jacobsen. Also her companion Fred Farrington of Salisbury NC, brother Gerrit Vanderwell and wife Kathy of Honesdale, PA and sisters Joanne Martin of Bradenton, FL and Stacey Stack of Westchester, PA.

   As per her wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to your favorite charity in her name.
