Thomas Marshall Obituary

Thomas Del Marshall, 74, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at Autumn Care of Statesville.

Born in Lawrence, Kansas on April 7, 1949, he was the son of the late Marienne Bensing Marshall and Don Francis Marshall.

Mr. Marshall attended Staunton Military Academy and went on to attend UNC Chapel Hill for Journalism. While there, he wrote for the Daily Tarheel Newspaper. He went on to receive numerous accreditations for his writing and speeches. Mr. Marshall was a very active member of the Queen City Jaycees for a number of years. He was an avid coin collector and was president of the Charlotte Coin Club. He was proud to be the father of his daughters.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Marshall; grandson, Johnathan Richardson; brother, Bob Marshall.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Melissa Stirewalt (Todd) of Salisbury and Amanda Dykeman (Joe) of St. Augustine, FL; grandchildren, Joshua Richardson (Victoria), Jeffrey Richardson (Caressa), Nicholas Dykeman, Robbyn Dykeman, Liam Dykeman, Lucy Dykeman, and Colin Dykeman; great-grandchildren, Ava Richardson, Sophia Richardson, and Mallory Richardson; mother of his children, Edna Marshall.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, 5555 Concord Pkwy S, Concord, NC 28027 with the Rev. Dr. Steve Holshouser officiating. Visitation will follow from 11:30 AM-1:00 PM.
