Thomas Nash, Sr. Obituary

On Friday, September 9, Thomas Lathan Nash, Sr. went to join our Lord in heaven after battling a lengthy illness.

Born November 20, 1946, he was the son of the late Barry Ernest and Betty Jean Nash.

He graduated from Odell High School in Concord in the year 1965, and soon after was drafted into the Army. He served from 1968 to 1972, and was honorably discharged after four years. Following his service, he began working for the Concord Fire Department, which he retired from as Captain after 30 years at Station 1. During this time, he also worked as a firefighter for the Charlotte Motor Speedway. After his retirement he enjoyed various hobbies, such as model car building, visiting the beach, collecting racing memorabilia, speedboat racing, and playing drums in the Back Water Band. Anyone that knew him, knew he was a man of faith, adrenaline, and practical jokes.

Devoted to his family, he leaves behind his wife of 33 years, Linda Woodby Nash, as well as children Charleene Childers (Olin Paul, Jr.), and Eric Becker (Monica), grandchildren Ashley Hileman (Kevin), Brittney Morgan (Jerry Span), Aaron Childers (Suzanne), Sydney Britt, Anna Stone (Chris), Jacob Becker, Delena Becker, Kendall Becker, great-grandchildren Gavin Morgan, Taylor Morgan, Madison Hileman, Riley Morgan, Paul Mitchell Childers, Wyatt Hileman, and Khelani Lawson.

A service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144, with military honors conducted by the Lyerly Volunteer Joint Services Honor Guard and firefighter honors conducted by the Concord Fire Department.
