Timothy Byron Smith

Timothy Byron Smith, 61, of Salisbury passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.

Born in Rowan County on September 2, 1961, he was the son of the late Bonnie Kay Peretti Smith and Ronald Jay Smith.

Mr. Smith was a 1979 graduate of West Rowan High School. He received his associate degree in machining technology from Rowan Cabarrus Community College and went on to be a machinist. He was a master craftsman and could put together and build anything from his imagination. He has made many things, from motorcycles, boats, caskets, to rebuilding homes, cars, and dirtbikes. Tim enjoyed playing pool and was talented at it. He had a passion to help friends and family but more to teach them as he went along. He wanted people to understand the how-to’s about doing things. He loved taking his grandchildren fishing and sharing his knowledge of the Yadkin River. He loved having pig pickin’s and sharing special times with his friends/family. Tim always made room for others in his home and heart. Even in his passing he was thinking of others and gave himself through organ donation to help others live. There will be a void with Tim not here, but his love will always be missed by anyone who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William Jay Smith and Mattie Treece Smith and maternal grandparents, Everette William Lowman and Margaret Weant Lowman.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Brandon Craig Smith (Leah) of Salisbury and grandchildren Peyton Byron Smith and Jaxon Lee Smith; sister, Christina Clifton (Jeff) of Woodleaf, nephews, Drew and Jonny Clifton, niece, Jerissa Clifton (David Kirkland), nephew Owen Kirkland and niece Quinn Kirkland; sister, Ashley Gordon (Derek) of Salisbury, niece Myndee and nephew Carter; brother, Jay Smith (Crystal Cox), niece Lacey and nephew Bryson; “favorite sister”, Marchella Cerda of Salisbury; uncle, Thomas Lowman (Evelyn) of Salisbury; aunts, Jatana Smith Patterson of Spencer and Lanette Smith Mayer of Salisbury; cousins, Matthew Lowman (Amie), Jennifer Myers (Aaron), William S. Smith (Mildred) of Salisbury, Harold Smith, Gail Smith Beasley of Salisbury, Melody Patterson of Spencer, Jason Patterson of Spencer, Cristie Patterson Mitchell (Nick) of Rock Hill, SC, JayLea Hughes of Salisbury, Jordan Hughes Smith (Brian) of Concord, and Justin Hughes of Salisbury. He is also survived by his faithful companion, Rufus.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 PM on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 1155 Hwy 801, Woodleaf, NC 27054, followed by a pig pickin’.
