Harvey Lee Jackson, 95, of Salisbury passed away Friday, September 14, 2018 at his residence.
Born in Rowan County on December 17, 1922, he was the son of the late Sallie Lou Rickman Jackson and John Monroe Jackson.
A veteran of the US Navy, Harvey worked as a painter for the Rowan County School System. He was a Jehovah’s Witness by faith and enjoyed doing puzzles, fishing, and going to the coast. He loved playing the guitar and did so for as long as he could.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife , Adelaide Rex Jackson, whom he was married to for 72 years; daughters, Patti Burrage and Diane Jackson; sisters, Polly Fraley, Mable Trent, Grace Snyder and Phyllis Holtz; brothers, Bill Carter, Hugh Carter, Rubin Carter and Dennis Jackson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Barbara Barringer and Don Jackson; sisters, Emma Carter, Sara Carter, Nannie Lindsey, Bettie Hubbard and Lorraine Jordan; brothers, Walter Carter, Tyree Carter and John Jackson; grandchildren, James P. Barringer, III (Christine), Kelly Barringer (Tammy), Jeff Barringer, Chris Barringer (Tina), Sharon Smith (Tim), Kevin Burrage, Brian Burrage (Cynthia), Justin Jackson (Abby), and Lauren Jackson; 20 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 7:00-8:30 PM Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1760 Old Union Church Rd., Salisbury, NC 28146.
Graveside Service: 11:30 AM Friday, September 21, 2018 at Sherrills Ford Road Baptist Church, 6455 Sherrills Ford Rd, Salisbury, NC 28147.
Memorials may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1760 Old Union Church Rd., Salisbury, NC 28146.
