Helen Eakins Alexander, 96, of Salisbury passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at her residence.
Born in Spencer on September 8, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Bert and Sally Dulin Eakins.
Helen graduated from Spencer High School in 1937. She and her husband, Lee Roy Alexander were charter members of Messiah Lutheran Church, where she remained a member in good standing all of her life. Helen was a homemaker and was an avid gardener, excellent cook and baker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Alexander on October 21, 1989; sons, Bert George Alexander and Roy Lee Alexander; brothers, Lawrence Anthony “Toby” Eakins, Joe Eakins and Charlie Eakins; sisters, Kate Eakins, Clelia Myers, Vivian Foy, Sarah Thomas and Eva Dominio.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Judy Alexander Edmiston (James) of Gold Hill; brother, Ronnie Eakins of Washington State; grandchildren, Kevin Alexander (April) of Salisbury, Michael Edmiston (Christy) of Hustonville, KY, Greg Alexander (Debbie) of Salisbury, Jacqueline Edmiston Cooper (Jack) of Salisbury, Tina Edmiston Davis (Jeremy) of Gold Hill, Samuel Edmiston (Paula) of Perryville, KY and Jo Ann Edmiston Cox (Jeff) of Rockwell; sixteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 10:00-11:00 AM Monday, May 7, 2018 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 701 E. Lafayette St., Salisbury, NC 28144.
Service: 11:00 AM Monday at Messiah Lutheran Church with the Rev. Don Safrit officiating. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park, 4125 Franklin Comm. Center Rd, Salisbury, NC 28144.
