Marie (Daley) Smith

Marie Daley Smith, 87, of Stanley, formerly of Gastonia, NC passed away Monday, June 18, 2018 at the Stanley Total Living Center.  She was born August 10, 1930 in Richland Township, Cambria Co., PA, the daughter of the late Mary Teno Daley and Louis Daley.

She married Donald R. Smith at the First Brethren Church of Winchester, VA on May 27, 1950.  Together they celebrated 63 years of marriage until Don’s passing on April 26, 2014.  At the time of her passing, Marie was a member of the New Paris, Indiana, Church of the Brethren.

Marie always enjoyed her flowers, especially African Violets, gardening, sewing, and reading books, magazines, and newspapers.  She liked to watch The Price is Right, The Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and the Fox News Channel.  She believed in keeping a clean and orderly home, inside and out.  She desired to live a frugal lifestyle. Marie attended First United Methodist Church in Mt Holly and was a member of The Wesley Fellowship Class.

Those left to cherish her memories are sons, Rev. Len Smith (Teresa) of Goshen, IN and Mark Smith (Jan) of Gastonia; sisters, Cecelia A. Shuman, Anna Tyno, and Elsie Olga Bulich; grandchildren, Boyd Smith (Krista), Joel Crawford-Smith (Melissa), Jessalyn Spell (Jonathan), and Frazier Smith (Olivia); and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 12:30-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 26 at Haven Lutheran Church fellowship hall, 207 W. Harrison St., Salisbury, NC 28144.

Service: 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 26 at the Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144 with Rev. Jerri Anne Pyles officiating and Rev. Len Smith sharing Words of Remembrance.
