Majorie Evelyn Lane Karabatsos, age 93, died on Friday, March 23, 2018, in the loving and caring community of Special Touch Living in Huntersville, NC. Born on July 26, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Walter James Lane and Uarda Esther Davis Lane in Cleveland, OH. Majorie attended Oberlin College in Ohio and received her Bachelor's degree in elementary education from Lowell State College (now UMass Lowell) in 1969. Majorie enjoyed meeting and talking with people - no one was a stranger to her. Everywhere she went she nourished people around her with love and faith. She was passionate about teaching and spent eighteen years teaching 5th grade, until her retirement from the Town of Lunenburg, Massachusetts. She enjoyed family gatherings, golf, singing in the choir, attending concerts and shows, and being a child at heart with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include sons Ken Karabatsos of Wilkesboro and James Karabatsos (Lora) of Gastonia; daughter Karen Dukes (Tim) of Charlotte; sister Virginia O'Rourke of Richmond, Virginia; and grandchildren, Dina Karabatsos, Lexi Fontaine (Sean) Jacob Karabatsos, Samantha Dukes, and Kelsey Dukes.
Details of the memorial service have not yet been finalized.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Charlotte, Special Touch Living of Huntersville, and First United Church of Christ in Salisbury, NC.
